Last week:
- Reuters covered online advertising dollars, stating “…some media veterans worry that expectations for online advertising may be getting out-sized. Increasingly, they say, too much media depends on advertising as the only source of revenue.” Other folks reportedly think there will be more than enough dollars to go around. Either way and in general, Undies would do well to diversify their revenue streams, especially if they depend heavily on advertising.
- I first saw this Reuters info in Steve Rubel’s post “Web 2.0 Economics 101,” which closed with, “If you’re a start up or an advertiser, pay attention to these two trends. They will have a big impact. It’s going to get very hard for advertiser-supported startups to get any scale when it comes to revenue.” Again, if you rely heavily on advertising, look to your online store, conventions, sponsorships, donations, and other sources. Your fans dig you and are eager to help.
